March is always an exciting month. The weather starts to warm up, grass starts to get green and there is always spring break. We here at the compass look to help you plan and enjoy the month that was named after the Roman god of war, Mars. March 4, 5, 6 ANNUAL BIG BAND SHOW Jazz fans can enjoy the self proclaimed "Show of the Year" for all three days at the Ed Cabell Theater.

Alina Fernandez concludes Colloquium Series

When she was 10, Alina Fernandez's mother told her that Fidel Castro was her father. "I was not surprised," Fernandez said, "I always knew Fidel Castro would not be a normal father." The Gainesville State College Colloquium Series for 2009-2010 ended last Tuesday with acclaimed orator Alina Fernandez, daughter of Fidel Castro.

GSC's Student newspapers bring home 33 awards

The Compass ranked 2nd overall

The GSC student newspapers won a total of 33 individual and group awards at the annual Georgia College Press Association conference in Athens Feb. 5 and 6. GSC Journalism instructors Dan Cabaniss and Dr. Merrill Morris accompanied a group of 24 Voice and Compass staff members to the two-day event.
