"My parents always told me to do what I wanted to," she said. It was never different or weird for Yeager, and she never felt awkward.
There was once instance, though, where she had to combat with the masculine stereotype.
Yeager was teaching a calculus class and a male student made a comment about how males are better at math than female.
"I was shocked," she said. "I looked at him and said, 'Look at your teacher!'"
The males-are-better-at-math attitude is a misconception, Yeager said.
Though most professors end up teaching at schools other than the ones they attended, Yeager came right back to Gainesville.
But Gainesville is not the only college Yeager attended. After her first degree (an associates of math) from Gainesville, she went to Georgia Southern University where she earned her bachelors and masters in math. She taught for one year at Brenau Academy.
In the end, though, Yeager found herself back at Gainesville. "It's the right place for me and the right place to be," she said. It all turned out well.

This teacher is excellent. I am taking algebra 097 with her this summer. This is my first algebra class and it has been a little difficult for me, but even though I am far from being a mathmatical genious, I now know more about algebra than I have ever known in my life. (Continued…)

Mrs.Yeager is by far the best teacher I have ever had at Gainesville State. I went into the class skeptical considering math is definately NOT my strong point. (Continued…)
